I'm now about to start installing a rubrail. It is made up of strips of 1/4" plywood laminated on the hull. The plans call for a 1" thick rubrail. I'm going to use a lot of clamps. First layer of the rubrail on hull held with both spring and C clamps. Beginning of the second lamination at the bow, quite a bit of bending is required so I had to use more C clamps to lock it in place.
A view down the side. Another view down the side showing two layers. Skipping ahead now, the rubrail is completed. All 4 layers have been laminated and the epoxy has cured. It was a little tricky getting the pieces to match perfect at the bow. I had to cut them ahead of time at angles. I filled any small gaps with epoxy + wood flour.
A view down the side from the bow. From the stern, a shot of the completed rubrail. Notice that it is sanded and faired to the transom.
