As usual, before glassing I wetted out the contact area. I cut 2 sheets of fiberglass about 4.5' X 8.5' (to provide overlap, since the transom is cut from a 4' X 8' sheet of plywood). The first layer is put up and I started wetting it out.
Another view at the same point in time of the fiberglassing. Now the fiberglass is completely saturated with epoxy. I squeezed as much epoxy out of the fiberglass as possible, too much epoxy does not increase the strength and only adds extra weight.
A final look at the transom before the second and final layer is installed. The second layer of biaxial fiberglass has now been installed on the transom. The motorwell area was cut out with a knife after the epoxy hardened.
